What this page holds, and what it does not. Everything on this page is a part or a package, not a machine that does a job by itself. Motor controls are chosen by voltage, phase, and hazard rating. You pick one by matching your building's power exactly: single phase at 115V, 220V, or 230V, or three phase at 230V, 400V, 460V, or 575V, at 50 or 60 Hz. Where the drum holds flammable solvent, coating, or fuel, the room is likely a classified hazardous location, and the roller needs an explosion-proof motor with a matching explosion-proof control package, the E1 single-phase and E3 three-phase builds, which run higher into the $4,000 to $9,000 range because a Class I Division 1 area is one where flammable vapor can be present in normal operation. Order the machine and its control package together so voltage, phase, frequency, and hazard rating are settled before an electrician is standing at the panel.

Guarding is a legal requirement, not an upgrade. A powered roller turning a 500 lb drum has an obvious point of operation, and OSHA's general machine guarding rule, 29 CFR 1910.212, requires that point to be guarded against employee contact. Cones and collars for dry material. Not every drum holds liquid. When a drum is full of powder, pellets, or granules and needs to pour into a hopper or mixer, an open drum surges and spills, so Morse fits a cone to the top to channel the discharge. The 45 degree drum cone, about $560 in painted steel, suits general dry dispensing, while the 90 degree asymmetric cone, around $1,400, gives a steeper directed flow for tighter targets and material that tends to bridge and then let go in a rush. A clamp collar, roughly $200, locks the cone onto the drum chime so nothing shifts mid-pour. For washdown, food, pharmaceutical, or corrosive powders, the same pieces come in stainless, with the cones near $1,450 and the stainless collar about $440. If the pour is a wet product from a sealed drum instead, the tilting racks in drum pourers and rackers are the better tool.

Adapters, wrenches, and crating. The cheapest parts here quietly keep the expensive machine usable. A drum diameter adaptor, about $303, lets a roller or holder built for a standard 55 gallon drum take a smaller or off-size drum without slipping, and a stainless drum adapter near $579 does the same job in a washdown or sanitary line. The MORplug drum wrench, roughly $31, opens and closes the bung plugs on a steel drum so a full one can be vented or drained without a screwdriver and a prayer. Ordering so nothing arrives half usable. Work the order in the same sequence every time. Start from the machine and its model number, then read your building's power off the panel, single or three phase, the voltage, and the frequency, and choose the control package that matches exactly. Next decide whether the room is a classified hazardous location, because that one answer moves you from a standard package to an explosion-proof E1 or E3 build and changes the guarding to match. Add the OSHA interlock enclosure in the same order rather than after the fact. Finally, size the cone, collar, and any diameter adapter to the drums you actually run and the material inside them, steel or stainless by your washdown and product rules.
